How do I seek to become one with the community?
In this section my artifacts provide evidence of my ability to effectively communicate with the families of my students in order to foster a reciprocal relationship between the actions of my students in their homes and the actions of my students in school. I provide evidence of my knowledge of the community of Portage Park including the services provided in the community, how members of the community interact with one another, and difficulties that members of the community face in regards to limited resources, goods, and social services. While my school is in the Portage Park neighborhood, most of my students do not live in this neighborhood. I also aim to display how I built a classroom community in my classroom that is inclusive of students from many different communities. All of the artifacts in this section display my understanding of the link between communities and student learning.
